I. Guidelines for Papers Submission

1. Submission of Papers

Authors should submit their paper to the Conference Secretariat in MS Word format, including all illustrations and figures within the text, through this official website. Authors should first register online . Once the registration is completed, online paper submission can then proceed.

Note: The file size should not exceed 10M.

Papers must be submitted in electronic format in MS Word or a compatible programme. Papers not in electronic format may not be included in conference proceedings.

2. Length of Papers - Papers for inclusion in conference proceedings should not exceed 6,000 words in length.

3. Layout of Papers

  • Papers must be single-spaced throughout, on one side only of A4 paper, with left and right margins of at least 3cm.
  • Papers must be typed without indentation of the first word of a paragraph and with a space of two lines between paragraphs.
  • All paragraphs must be justified.
  • The page number must be typed at the centre of the bottom of each page.
  • The surname of the author (or the first-named author if the paper has two or more authors must be added at the top right hand corner of each page.

4. Setting Style

4.1 Font Style and Size - Times New Roman with font size of 12 should be used throughout the paper.

4.2 Main Title - The title of the paper should be given in bold capitals, ranged left at the head of the page.

4.3 Author(s) - The name(s) of the author(s) in capitals and lower case letters and the corresponding organisation name(s) should be given immediately below the title again ranged left. The word 'By' should not precede the name(s) .

4.4 Abstract - A brief abstract (of not more than 500 words) should precede the main text of the paper. This should be headed abstract (in bold capitals and ranged left).

4.5 Sections

4.5.1 Numbering of Sections
A hierarchical decimal numbering system is used for numbering sections and sub-sections in the main text: 1, 2, 3... 1.1, 1.2, 1.3...2.1, 2.2, 2.3...etc.

4.5.2 Main Section Headings
Numbered and set in bold capitals, ranged left.

4.5.3 Sub-section Headings
Numbered in decimal notation, ranged left. Set in bold capitals and lower-case letters.

4.5.4 Sub-sub-section Headings
If it is necessary to go to a further sub-division of the text matter, sub-sub-section headings should again be numbered in a decimal notation and ranged left. These headings should be in italic capitals and lower-case letters.

5. Referencing

5.1 Footnotes - Please place footnotes at the bottom of the relevant page

5.2 Reference - Only Harvard method of referencing is acceptable. Reference should be at the back of the manuscript.

6. Acknowledgements - Please acknowledge collaborators or anyone who has helped with the paper at the end of the text. The heading ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS in bold capitals and ranged left, should be used and not given a section number.

7. Address & Contact - The correspondence address and contact information of the author(s) should be given at the left hand side of the page, immediately after the references or after the final paragraph of the text if no references are included.

8. Tables - Tables are normally included where referred to in the text. However, it is also acceptable to group all tables together at the end of the paper. Tables should be numbered with Arabic numerals: Table 1, Table 2, Table 3...etc. The type size used for the tables should be the same as that used for the body of the paper.

9. Illustrations, Images & Figures - Illustrations, images and figures should be submitted electronically within the text and be numbered with Arabic numerals: Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3...etc. The type size used should be the same as that used for the body of the paper. JPG format is recommanded.

10. Trade Names & Commercial Products - Registered trade names of fibres and other products should be, spelt with an initial capital letter. It is not necessary to use quotation marks. Please avoid using capital letters for commercial products or items of equipment.

11. Spelling - Either British or American spellings are acceptable, provided that consistency is maintained throughout the paper. The Concise Oxford Dictionary is the recommended guide for authors using British Spelling.

12. Units - SI units must be used, or at least given as equivalents. Conversion factors can be supplied to authors who require them. The Tex System must be used for quoting values of yarn count or linear density. If values in traditional yarn count systems are given the equivalent values in tex must also be given in brackets.

13. Conference Presentations - Those papers, which are accepted as presentations, must be prepared as POWERPOINT presentations. Please also refer to the Guidelines for Oral Presentation.

14. Submission Deadline - The deadline for paper submission is 29 August 2008 (Fri) . The file size should not exceed 10M.

15. Remarks - Please note that failure to comply with these guidelines may result in our inability to publish your paper in the conference proceedings.

II. Guidelines for Oral Presentation

You are required to submit your Microsoft PowerPoint file (PowerPoint 2003 or older version) for oral presentation to the Conference Secretariat at the conference venue (Details to be announced) . The duration of each session is 20 – 30 minutes, including presentation and Q&A session.

Every room will be equipped with a laptop PC and an LCD projector. Overhead projector, slide projector and laser pointer will not be provided.

You are also required to arrive at your session 30 minutes before it starts.

III. Guidelines for Poster Presentation

1. Size of Poster - A0 - 841mm(W) × 1189mm(H)

2. Setting Style

2.1 Font Style and Size - Times New Roman with font size of 60 for title and 30 for content and no less than 18 for labelling.

2.2 Main Title - The title of the poster should be given in bold capitals, ranged left at the head of the poster.

2.3 Author(s) - The name(s) of the author(s) in capitals and lower case letters and corresponding organization name(s) should be given immediately below the title again ranged left. The word 'By' should not precede the name(s) .

2.4 Sections

2.4.1 Numbering of Sections
